The NSW Seniors Week Achievement Awards celebrate seniors and organisations that contribute to seniors’ initiatives. The Awards honour those who show leadership and initiative within a specific industry or who contribute to the wider community. You can nominate an individual or organisation in the following award categories.

1. Business

Age is an asset for these business-savvy brains. This category celebrates active involvement in business and enterprise. From consulting to mentoring, the recipient of this category generously shares their expertise and experience within their industry.

2. Intergenerational Understanding

Do you know someone who builds bridges between people of all ages? The recipient of this category may be actively involved with schools, colleges or community centres, passing on their passion for topics such as history, gardening or craft. They may have embraced the web or mobile technology to share their field of expertise with all people.

3. Environment, Science, Agriculture

Is there a Captain Planet in your neighbourhood? This category awards those who are committed to caring for the planet, development of rural industries or advancement of scientific research. They lead by example and are active in community projects, campaigning for the protection of wildlife or the development of rural industry. Our world would be in a poorer state without their energy and forward thinking.

4. Health and Wellbeing

This category pays tribute to seniors who are fit and fabulous in mind, body and spirit. This category celebrates their commitment to the development of recreational programs and support groups, or to improving the physical and mental wellbeing of older people. The recipient is active in sport and fitness e.g. marathon runners, yoga instructors or Masters Games Winners.

5. Lifelong Learning

Learning something new every day is a motto for the recipient of this category. This category recognises the continual pursuit for knowledge in senior years, and is for senior academics, students, journalists and those involved in the development of educational programs and activities such as recording local history.

6. Community Service

Giving back is important to these seniors. This category awards those who dedicate their efforts, time and energy towards community projects and charities. Their commitment to the world beyond their doorstep is inspiring. From fundraising, entertaining other seniors, and time dedicated to community organisations, their energy and enthusiasm enriches those around them and deserves recognition.

7. Supporting Working Seniors (for organisations only)

This category recognises employers who have implemented initiatives to support seniors in their workplace and have demonstrated a commitment to senior-focused projects or initiatives. Nominations for non-government organisations, government agencies and the private sector will be accepted.
