Applications open on Tuesday 25 July 2017 at 9am and close Friday 8 September 2017 at 11.59pm.

Category 3 is only available to local government organisations. See below for more information on the grant categories.

The theme for the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival is Inclusive Communities.

About the Grants Program

Run by the Department of Family and Community Services, the Grants Program provides $200,000 in seed-funding for organisations to hold events and activities across the state during the annual NSW Seniors Festival.

We are seeking to funding projects that provide opportunities for people over 60 to remain active, healthy, engaged and contributing to their local communities.

Funding Categories

For the first time, three funding categories are available to distribute $200,000 across the state:

Category 1
Up to $1,000 for small-scale local community events and activities.

Category 2
$1,001 – $5,000 for larger local community events and activities.

Category 3
$5,001 - $10,000 for large scale community and/or regional events and activities. Category 3 funding is available to local government organisations only.

Category 2 and 3 grants must be matched by at least 50% of your organisation's own resources. This matched amount can include sponsorship, cash or in-kind contributions such as venue hire, catering and administration costs, and money spent by your own organisation.

Who can apply for a grant?

Category 1 and 2 grants are open to all not-for-profit and charitable organisations, public companies limited by guarantee and local government authorities based in NSW.

Category 3 funding is available to local government organisations only.

How do I apply for a grant?

All applications must be submitted online via SmartyGrants by 11.59pm on Friday 8 September 2018.

Before you submit an application, please read the Grants Program objectives and the 2018 Grants Program Guidelines, including the Terms and Conditions.

To apply you will need:

  • Project/event details (time, date, venue etc)
  • Your proposed project budget
  • Your organisation or sponsoring body's bank account details
  • Your organisation or sponsoring body's public liability insurance.
