2009 NSW Seniors Week Grants Program now open

Release date: 11 August 2008

Community organisations, seniors’ groups and local councils are urged to apply for funding under the 2009 NSW Seniors Week Grants Program.

Next year’s Seniors Week will be held from 15 – 22 March.

Seniors Week grants are provided through the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) to help finance the development and organisation of local Seniors Week projects.

This year, 251 organisations were funded for activities and events ranging from festivals to local fitness classes and tea dances. More than 250,000 seniors attended 700 events across the state during Seniors Week.

The NSW Seniors Week Grants Program closes on 19 September 2008 and all applications will be assessed by an independent panel during October.

All applicants will be notified in December whether they have been successful in securing a grant for their event.

Application forms are now available on the NSW Seniors Week website, www.nswseniorsweek.com.au or by calling the Seniors Information Service on 13 12 44.
