NSW prepares to toast 50th Seniors Week

Seniors can expect comedy and action at more than 700 events set to mark the 50th annual NSW Seniors Week (6-13 April).

Under the LIVE LIFE banner, highlights include the Young at Heart Film Festival, performances by legendary entertainers Kamahl and Jimmy Little and the NSW Seniors Week Achievement Awards, which recognise outstanding commitment to local communities.

Kamahl will front festivities alongside Mother and Son actor Henri Szeps, media personality Ita Buttrose and 20 other household names. The heavyweight stars will be attending festivities, discussing their experiences and treating audiences to performances.

"Running from 6 to 13 April, NSW Seniors Week is the biggest celebration for older people in the southern hemisphere," said the Minister for Ageing, Kristina Keneally.

"With hundreds of planned free or discounted activities and events, it is a great opportunity for the 1.3 million older people living in NSW to get active, learn something new and live life to the full," she said.

NSW Seniors Week is an annual initiative funded by the NSW Government and organised by the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care to thank, celebrate and recognise older people across the State for the contributions they make to the community.

Event programs will be available at local clubs in mid-March.
